About Coach Nero: "Coach Nero has been a coach with CVC and VA Wave since 2019 coaching both girls and boys teams. In 2021 he became the Boys Program Coordinator and was instrumental in revving dwindling boys opportunities on the upper peninsula. In 2023, Coach Nero was brought on as the Head Coach of Smithfield High School Volleyball where he made school history in his inaugural season leading the program to its first Regional's appearance, Region 4A's runner-up and bid to the State tournament. When Nero is not coaching volleyball, he spends his time playing competitive A/AA indoor volleyball in adult leagues and tournaments.  

Why Do I Coach? "I coach because it is the sport that I am deeply in love with. Volleyball taught me toughness, physically and mentally. I would love to share that same love and lesson learned with every athletes I coach. Also, I coach because it’s no longer just about sports these days, it’s about life. We learn from every win and loss, and we apply it on and off the court."
